It’s Five Minute Friday again. Our topic for today is…finish.
I can’t believe it.
Well, I guess I can. I mean, I expected it. But it’s still hard to believe.
This week, I “finished” a job. By finished I mean leave. I have been asked if the choice was mine. The answer is no.
But I do know Whose “choice” it was. It was God’s.
I know that the job came about because of His divine intervention in my life. Seriously. I had been looking for a job, with no real prospects. So, this God-follower finally said, “OK God. If I’m supposed to have a job, you’re going to have to make it happen.” Now I know we aren’t to test God; I wasn’t doing that. I was just at the end of my proverbial rope, and needed something to change.
And you know what? Something did happen. I ended up with a job that I enjoyed, though it was only for a short time.
I believe that I can say with confidence that I have lived out the verse in 2 Corinthians 8:11: “Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.” I left all I could give to my students in that job. Hopefully as they begin a new school year, they will remember me with fondness. I know I have great memories of them.
So, I sit here “finished” with another job. What lies ahead? Who knows? But I know that my God knows–and He will help me do whatever I do in such a way that I will finish strong.
