Five Minute Friday again!  Our prompt for today is…change.

“And he (Jesus) said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children,

you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.'”  Matthew 18:3

It’s back to school time!  Each year when this happens, our schedules change.  No more lazy mornings, carefree late nights, quick overnight trips.  Nope, everything changes.

As I think about all the little kiddos (and big ones) heading back to class, I wonder how hard it is for them.  After all, they are going to a new classroom, with new classmates, a new teacher, maybe even a new school.  It can be difficult being little sometimes, and change is challenging.

But, they always handle it, don’t they?  There may be some initial tears and fears, but they adapt.  They accept what is before them with little questions.  They just believe everything will be OK.

How about you?  When you think of change, how do you feel?  Change isn’t easy, it isn’t always fun.  But take a look at our verse–in your relationship with Jesus, change should be one thing you desire.  We need to be like our children going off to the first day of school.  We need to accept the love of Jesus–just accept it.  Don’t look for ways to “pay Him back” or “make yourself worthy” of the love.  We have to then believe that God has our best interests at heart.  He knows the plans He has for us, and we have to trust in those. Simply put, change the way you think about God.

So today, have the childlike faith to accept and believe our Savior.  Change your mind, your heart, your beliefs.  The change will be for your benefit!

Tell me what you think!
