Thanks to The Life of Jennifer Dawn for our graphic today!
Welcome to Fix-it Friday here on Be Very Well Fed!
Let’s examine some Scripture, then we will move on to another yummy recipe!
Our verse for today, Psalm 96:12 (take another look at our graphic), paints an awesome picture. Girls, we as humans are not the only ones to praise our Lord. Nope, everything that has been created by His mighty hand can and will praise Him. Think back to a time when you were in a forest (if you can’t remember such a time, sweetheart, you need to get out and enjoy nature!). Those tall and majestic trees can “sing” during a gentle breeze or a thunderous breeze. The leaves rattle, the branches creak, the whole tree sways–all of those movements are living praises to our Creator.
I live on a farm, and I have daily examples of God’s creation offering praise. From the cries of a newborn goat, to the clucking of a chicken, to the frantic noises of a guinea hen–all of those can also been seen as praise. After all, if it weren’t for God, these creatures wouldn’t be in existence. I bet you won’t look at the noises from farm animals the same again!
So my question is this–are you going to let animals, trees, grasses, birds, outpraise you? Will you allow other creations of God to offer Him more worship than you? Oh, may it not be so! Just as the other created things on earth have opportunities to praise, so do you. My friend, you can praise Him any time you want, anywhere you want, in any way you want. Sing to Him at maximum volume on the drive to work (and here’s a bit of fun–roll your windows down so others can hear your praises!). Admire a beautiful flower, a rushing stream, an interesting rock formation, a breathtaking sunset–and offer praise to God. Thank Him for your life, for the very breath you breathe, for the beating of your heart, for the freedom to worship, for His love. The possibilities for praise are endless. Anytime you see that swaying tree, praise your Father in heaven. After all, you don’t want to be outdone by a tree…
While you are busy praising, you should also praise God for the chance to cook a good meal for your family. Looking for something new? Here on Fix-It Friday, I have an option. In honor of Valentine’s Day (Happy Valentine’s Day to you–though I really don’t need a special day to tell you that God loves you!), how about cooking a wonderful chicken dish? The Lazy Gourmet has many delicious recipes, and Garlic Pesto Chicken with Tomato Cream Penne is a fantastic meal that looks fancy, but is really pretty easy to prepare. Pair it with some fresh fruit (my favorite side dish), and you have a delicious meal. Enjoy this dish, and remember to praise God while you are assembling it!
